Hi. Nice to meet you!
If you are reading this, it means you might be considering counselling. I am excited for you! But first, it is important to find a counsellor you think you’ll fit with. So here is a bit about me and my experience:
I am graduate of Naropa University Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counselling program. This program allowed me to learn healing practices from both Eastern and Western traditions. Before going to Naropa, I received my degree in psychology at the University of Victoria, Canada. For 7 years I have been supporting others in the field of mental health. My areas of focus have been anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship issues, and addictions. I use various counselling modalities including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Mindfulness-based therapies. I see counselling as a collaborative process, that is client centered overall, and believe that therapy offers a chance to heal, grow, and excel in life. I am passionate about helping people see their strengths and recover from limiting beliefs that are often a result of the minor or major traumas that are a part of life. I view symptoms and undesired behaviours as wise, but outdated adaptations that can be transformed. Befriending our mind and finding self acceptance are key tenets that influence my therapy. With a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, I strive to provide a safe, curious, and humorous (at times), space to do the work. When not counselling, you can find me in nature, improv acting, playing guitar, meditating, physical training, or spending time with those close to me.
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke
